Be Still and Know

The pressure is on. The clock is ticking—always. 12 months. 52 weeks. 365 days. 8,760 hours. 525,600 minutes. 31,536,000 seconds. We wrestle with time and race against it. We make plans and set our course.

But life has a way of defying us. And time—time doesn’t heal. Time doesn’t make us stronger. Time is the cruel teacher that steals our unused moments and buries us at the end of the lesson.

Too sobering? It shouldn’t be. Because time is not in control. Neither are we.

We make our plans, but God defines and guides our steps. He whispers through the whirlwind around us. “Hold still.” Feel His arms around you. You’re wrestling. He’s calmly holding you like a kind father holds a frightened child. “I’ve got you.”

Don’t wrestle with each moment—with each thought, trying to make them count. They already do. He holds them all. Be still and know that He is God.
